Here are the teams for League 10-

As I've used ALL the HOF teams that Stratomatic has given me and haven't explored the other seasons, I've added some teams that didn't make the playoffs but could be interesting to play with. Here are the teams for League 10.

2011 D-backs win League 9 World Series!

The D-backs came from a 2-0 deficit in the series to take it 4-3 over the 1927 Yankees. They move on to League 10. Sorry for no updates on this World Series.

FINAL STANDINGS

16 games have been played...and this is the results of the season.

NLDS- 27 Pirates vs 2011 D-backs
ALDS- 27 Yankees vs 54 Indians.

See a pattern here? 1927 could be the World Series. Also Cleveland is the defending champions of the Stratomatic League.  Now we'll see who wins.

Pirates made an amazing comeback since at one point they were 3-4. Cleveland has been dominant the whole season. 27 Yanks come back to beat out the 41 Yanks to take the AL East. Dbacks just get past SF in a 14 inning playoff game.

MY FIRST NO HITTER IN STRATOMATIC!

1919 Chicago fans certainly got their money's worth at Comiskey Park. Matt
Garza(1-0) pitched a rare no-hitter as the 2008 Tampa Bay Rays toppled the
1919 Chicago White Sox 1 to 0.

Garza was spectacular. He walked 4 1919 Chicago batters. The 2008 Tampa Bay
players and coaches started to leave Garza alone with his thoughts after the
game reached the 7th inning. By the time the 9th inning rolled around, you
could hear a pin drop every time he went to his wind-up - and an explosion
after every out. 1919 Chicago went down quietly in the bottom of the 9th.

The losing pitcher was Eddie Cicotte(2-1). He gave up only 2 hits and 2 walks
in 9 innings. Garza was in a jubilant mood after the game. 'If I'd known I
was going to throw a no hitter I would have gotten a haircut!' he said, much
to the delight of the clubhouse gathering.

RIP Stan Lopata

Game between the 50 Phillies and 35 Cubs. I decided it'd be a nice tribute to start Stan Lopata who died on June 15 at age 87. Crazy enough the Phils won this one...1-0 on a Stan Lopata HR.
Catcher Stan Lopata touched them all and Robin Roberts tossed a complete game shutout as the 1950 Phila Phillies topped the 1935 Chicago Cubs by a score of 1 to 0 at Wrigley Field. Roberts (2-0) gave 1950 Phila a solid outing. He was stingy on the mound,  allowing just 6 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. 1935 Chicago was set down quietly in the bottom of the 9th. The losing pitcher was Lonnie Warneke (0-1). He gave up 1 run and 9 hits in 8 innings.

Another Fenway comeback..

Another miracle comeback for the Red Sox. With the crowd on their collective feet, screaming at the top of their lungs, 1946 Boston Red Sox rallied to top 2011 LAA Angels by the score of 3-2. 1946 Boston won the game with a rally in the bottom of  the 9th inning scoring 2 runs. Wally Moses led off and keyed the rally when he drew a walk. Pinky Higgins stepped into the batter's box and he doubled. Glen Russell then smacked a single. 1946 Boston finished with 8 hits in the victory. The win was credited to Earl Johnson (2-0) who went 2/3 of an inning allowing no runs. Jordan Walden (0-2) took the loss in relief. 'That was exciting!,' Rudy York said. 'I would have paid money to watch this one.'

Ugly game in Arizona

Night game at Chase Field in Phoenix where both team's starting pitching could barely even make it past the 2nd inning. Phil Cavarretta had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the 1935 Chicago Cubs beat the 2011 Arizona Diamondbacks by a score of 11 to 7. Cavarretta was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided much of the offense for the visitors. He doubled scoring two base runners in the 1st inning, smashed a solo homer in the 3rd inning, ripped a base-knock in the 5th inning and ripped a base-hit in the 7th inning. Chicago had 18 hits for the game and Arizona had 9. The victory went to Fabian Kowalik (1-1) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs. Jason Marquis (0-1) was the losing pitcher. O's win in extra innings...

In a night game, the 1974 Baltimore Orioles edged the 1927 New York Yankees in 12 innings at Memorial Stadium by the score of 4-3. Into extra innings, after an out was recorded, Don Baylor tripled. Brooks Robinson stepped up to the plate and he stroked a base hit back up the middle giving Baltimore the victory and a wild post-game celebration by the 11,716 hometown fans ensued. Yankees had 12 hits in the game while O's had 7, but Baltimore had the more timely hits. This is the first game that Boog Powell sat out in awhile. Babe Ruth at 2 doubles in the loss. The victory went to Don Hood (1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs. George Pipgras (0-1) was charged with the loss in relief. Phillies comeback

Another exciting finish. Erskine Mayer had an impressive outing at Baker Bowl as the 1916 Phila Phillies pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the 1933 New York Giants 3-2Phillies scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning scoring 3 runs on 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Bert Niehoff got things rolling when he drew a walk. Gavvy Cravath stepped up next and he tripled. Possum Whitted then drew a walk. After another out, Dave Bancroft came up and he drew a walk to load the bases. Bill Killefer stepped into the box and laced a base-knock. Phils finished with just 5 hits in the victory. The Phillies were no hit through 4 innings. The winning pitcher was Joe Oeschger (1-0) who allowed no runs in 1/3 of an inning. Fred Fitzsimmons (0-1) was hit with the loss in relief. Pat Moran was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought game like that. Our guys just weren't going to be denied. And did you see the fans - they were going wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win this afternoon!'  The upstart Phillies are now 3-1 while the one time National League champs are 1-3. Giants lost the very first Stratomatic World Series. Quite an unusual start to their season. Both Phillies teams (1950, 1916) are at top of standings in NL East.

Battle of the White Sox

At Old Comiskey Park, the 1919 Black Sox dominated the 1993 White Sox 6-1. Relief pitching fails Tampa

Another come from behind win. The hometown crowd were rewarded with a dramatic ending, as the 1941 New York Yankees staged a comeback win over the 2008 Tampa Bay Rays by the count of 4- 3. Yankees won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 9th inning plating 2 runs on 2 base hits. Joe Gordon led off and started the attack as he drew a walk. Gordon took off for second and slid in with a stolen base. Bill Dickey struck out, unable to help the rally. After another out, Buddy Rosar came to bat and doubled. Phil Rizzuto stepped into the box and drew a walk. Red Rolfe did his part to keep things going and slapped a base-hit. Neither team was able to score until the 6th inning. Evan Longoria's error in the bottom of the 8th started the Yank's rally. The win went to Johnny Murphy (2-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Troy Percival (0-1) ended up with the loss in relief and gets the blown save. Murphy and Rolfe were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the great come from behind victory. 'That was exciting!,' Rolfe said. "I would have paid money to watch this one."

Giants win in Denver

At Coors Field, 1962 San Francisco Giants took on the 2009 Colorado Rockies in a night game. Orlando Cepeda had 2 base hits as the Giants beat the Rockies by a score of 3-2. S.F. won the game with a run in the 8th inning. Cepeda ripped a one-base hit. Cepeda took second on a stolen base. After an out was recorded, Harvey Kuenn came up and he ripped a base-knock scoring Cepeda. S.F. ended up with 11 hits for the game while Colorado had 7. Don Larsen (1-0) was brilliant in relief and registered the victory. He gave up just 1 hit and no walks in 2 innings. Stu Miller preserved the game for Larsen, recording his 1st. Jason Hammel (0-1) was charged with the loss. He gave up 9 hits and no walks in 7 innings. Clint Barmes had a homer for Colorado. Giants improve in the standings to 3-1, while Rockies drop to 1-3.

Pirates pull one out

At Wrigley Field, a match up of 1927 Pittsburgh Pirates vs 1935 Chicago Cubs. Pirates defeat the Cubs  by a score of 7-3. Pittsburgh came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning when they scored 4 runs on 3 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Paul Waner who silenced Wrigley Field as he lined a base-hit which was good for two runs. The game was dominated by the Pirates, until Chicago came to life in the 8th inning. Pirates killed any hope of a Cubs win in the 9th though. Johnny Miljus (1-0) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Hugh Casey (0-1) took the loss in relief. He gave up 4 runs and 2 hits in 2/3 of an inning.

Tigers fall in Oakland

At Oakland Coliseum, 1909 Detriot Tigers and 1988 Oakland A's met up for a night game. Right fielder Jose Canseco had 2 base hits as the A's beat the Tigers 6-4. Detroit was unable to recover after Oakland went ahead in the 3rd inning scoring 2 runners on 1 hit. Curt Young (1-0) went 7 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Young was helped out by Gene Nelson who recorded his 1st save. Ed Killian (0-1) ended up with the loss. He was knocked around by the A's, allowing 9 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. Strangely, both team's catchers got injured. A's win their 1st game, while Tigers lose their 1st. The loss keeps the Tigers from keeping up withe 1954 Indians who are in first in AL West now.

Comeback at Fenway

I love games like this. At Fenway, Ted Williams slammed a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 9th as the 1946 Boston Red Sox staged a dramatic comeback to win one over 1980 Milwaukee Brewers, 3-2. It looked like the Brewers were gonna win a pitcher's duel on errors but Boston had an answer for that. Two errors IN A ROW by Sox 3rd basemen Rip Russell allowed 2 runs to score for the Brewers. He was promptly replaced during the inning by Pinky Higgins. The Brewers looked like they were gonna pull off the win at Fenway. Until the bottom of the 9th. Down to their last out, Dom Dimaggio opened up the rally for the Red Sox as he drew a walk.  Bobby Doerr was next and he ripped a base-knock, and an error by Gorman Thomas brought home a run for Boston. Score then was 2-1 Brewers still..but Red Sox had life left. With a man on second, 2 out, Ted Williams then blasted a two-run home run.  Neither team was able to score until the 6th inning. Earl Johnson (1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Jerry Augustine (0-1) took the loss in relief.  He was knocked around, surrendering 3 runs in 2 innings.

'Now that is what I call fun! I just love baseball, especially games like
this, of course,' Sox manager Joe Cronin offered.  'Everyone at the stadium had a great
time - did you see the fans go wild there at the end?!'

D-backs roll

At the Astrodome, in a blow out 2011 Arizona D-backs destroyed the 1998 Houston Astros 10-3. First inning grand slam by Justin Upton set the tone of the game. Solo shot for Lyle Overbay and Miguel Montero added with a 3 run homer. Josh Collmenter (1-0) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win. He allowed 7 hits and 1 walk in 5 innings.  Sean Bergman (0-1) got rocked. He served up 3 home runs in his 3 and 2/3 innings. Unbeaten Arizona moves to 4-0, while Astros drop to 1-3. Who would of ever thought D-backs would be this good? Solidly in first place in NL West.

Phillies crush Beaneaters

A night game at Shibe Park featured 1894 Boston Beaneaters and 1950 Philadelphia Phillies. Phillies cruised to a 11 to 5 victory over the Beaneaters. Phillies fans enjoyed the offense provided by Eddie Waitkus. He ripped a base-knock in the 3rd inning and hit a 'grand salami' to the delight of his teammates in the 8th inning. It was roller coaster of a game as the lead change hands 5 times.  Boston made a nice comeback to take the lead in top of the 8th, but Phillies had the response in the bottom of the 8th. Homers by Sisler and Waitkus carried the Phils offense. Ken Johnson (1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Marvin Hawley (0-1) was the loser in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning and surrendered 2 hits and no walks. A little trivia.. Hawley had only played in 1 major league game before he left baseball for good in 1894. He died 10 years later in 1904 at age 28.
