Relief pitching fails Tampa

Another come from behind win. The hometown crowd were rewarded with a dramatic ending, as the 1941 New York Yankees staged a comeback win over the 2008 Tampa Bay Rays by the count of 4- 3. Yankees won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 9th inning plating 2 runs on 2 base hits. Joe Gordon led off and started the attack as he drew a walk. Gordon took off for second and slid in with a stolen base. Bill Dickey struck out, unable to help the rally. After another out, Buddy Rosar came to bat and doubled. Phil Rizzuto stepped into the box and drew a walk. Red Rolfe did his part to keep things going and slapped a base-hit. Neither team was able to score until the 6th inning. Evan Longoria's error in the bottom of the 8th started the Yank's rally. The win went to Johnny Murphy (2-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Troy Percival (0-1) ended up with the loss in relief and gets the blown save. Murphy and Rolfe were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the great come from behind victory. 'That was exciting!,' Rolfe said. "I would have paid money to watch this one."
