27 Yanks lose first game in Cincy

2010 Reds came back to beat the 1927 Yankees 5-4 at Great American Ball Park. It looking promising for the Yankees early as Babe Ruth went 3-3 but the Yankees had trouble converting them into runs.
Drew Stubbs went deep and had 2 RBIs. The score was tied at 4 after nine. 2010 Cincinnati won the game in the 10th inning. Orlando Cabrera reached on an error. Cabrera got a great jump and stole second easily. Brandon Phillips then laced a single. With men on 1st and 3rd, Scott Rolen followed and he smacked a single resulting in an exciting win for 2010 Cincinnati and a wild post-game celebration by the hometown fans. 2010 Cincinnati rapped out 12 hits for the night. The winning pitcher was Logan Ondrusek (1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Herb Pennock (0-1) was tagged with the loss. He gave up 5 runs and 11 hits in 9 innings. Pennock was effective enough considering he went deep into the game, but Wilcy Moore isn't much of a reliever. Relief pitching obviously is a problem for teams from the earlier eras.  Credit to Mike Leake for containing the mighty 1927 Yankees offense...except Babe Ruth. First win for the Reds and first loss for Yankees. First time I've actually played a league game on the same date as the date on the calendar.
